Adult Bible Study Opportunities
Why should you spend time studying the Bible?
Are you totally self sufficient?
The Bible offers ground rules for successful living and relationships with GOD and with others. It is God's inspired word that for many centuries has proven valid in dealing with real life problems. 21st century morality and technology are not adequate alternatives.
When was the last time you studied the Bible?
Do you profess to be a Christian?
Whatever career you have chosen requires learning and discipline to achieve mature status. There is more to being a Christian than attending worship services, being friendly, kind and charitable.
Join a Disciple class and learn more.
Disciple I is the foundational course for all other classes in the Disciple series.
Disciple I will extend over 34 weeks meeting once each week. When the potential class members have been identified, we will choose a specific week night to meet that is agreeable to the majority.
Over the 34 weeks, we will cover the entire Bible (both Old and New Testaments). The teaching mode is Socratic with open discussion. Participants develop strong bonds with each other as a byproduct of their time together.
Discussion Leaders will be Dennis Johnson and Hal Whiteley
Disciple IV
A requirement is that participants have completed Disciple I.
The course will be held once a week for 32 weeks and cover the Old Testament writings (including Psalms and Proverbs), the Gospel of John and the Epistles of John, James and Jude plus Revelation.
Discussion Leaders will be Tad Ulijasz and Tom Tefelske
Christian Believer
This course will meet once a week for 30 weeks. There is no prerequisite other than your desire to learn. The course is designed to help participants understand the language and the doctrines of the church through the writings of both ancient and modern commentators.
Discussion Leader will be Dianna Haugh
Each of the above courses of study feature a video presentation by a leading Biblical scholar at the opening of each class session.

Studies in Progressive Christianity
(Formerly The Forum) This adult discussion group explores issues in contemporary Christianity and progressive spiritual thought, including challenges to traditional theology. Leading progressive theologians are studied, primarily through video presentations. Most of the 2009-10 class year will be devoted to the series Living the Questions 2.0, "an open-minded alternative to studies that attempt to give participants all the answers and instead strives to create an environment where participants can interact with one another in exploring what's next for Christianity." Please join us. This class might be the most thought-provoking hour of your week! They meet in the Disciple Room.
Adult Bible Study
This group meets year-round. They focus on a variety of book studies aimed at growing in our faith. They meet in the Highland Room.
Special Seminars
From time to time, we schedule special seminars between our two services on topics of current interest. Please check the newsletter or the Sunday bulletin for times and dates.
